The widget-based batch of RSS feeds of news from Africa has just been slightly modified, in order to reflect the recent revamping of African Path. (The batches of Sudan-, DR Congo-, Somalia-, and Zimbabwe-related feeds, however, have not been changed.)
Separately, since the last update, I have come across feeds for the following: the African Studies Center at the University of Leiden; Media Monitoring Africa's blog; the Constituency for Africa; the African Elections Project/Portal; Mashada; Afriquejet (the successor to Afrique en ligne); Bantu Village; Africa Business Wire; Indego Africa's "Social Enterprising" blog; South Sudan Analysis; the "Sudanese Optimist"; Torit1955's (Sudan-related) blog; Steve Bloomfield's personal blog; the "Kakuma News Reflector"; Somalia's trilingual (Somali/English/Arabic) "Horseed Media"; SomalilandPress; Ending Extreme Poverty in the Congo (affiliated with Congo Helping Hands); the bilingual (French/English) "Mushaki Pager"; the bilingual (French/English) "KongoTimes"; the bilingual (French/English) "Afrique Centrale"; Zimbabwe's "Business Weekly"; Media in Zimbabwe; Save Zimbabwe Now; Living Zimbabwe; Denford Magora's (Zimbabwe-related) blog; "Peace, love & happiness unto the whole world"; Zimbablog; Mukoma; Libya Online; Moroccan-American Community Events; Algeria's trilingual (Arabic/English/French) "Ennahar"; the "Ghanaian Journal"; Nigeria's "National Point"; StockMarketNigeria.com; Ghana Business News; the trilingual (French/English/Arabic) "African Manager"; African Examiner's blog; Namibia's bilingual (Afrikaans/English) "Republikein"; and the Open Society Initiative for West Africa. Also, I've come across Africa-specific feeds (plus, in some cases, country-specific ones) for: GlobalPost; the "Huffington Post"; the Wilson Center; the Committee to Protect Journalists; the Open Society Institute's main site; and Reason magazine. (Furthermore, I neglected to mention earlier that--in addition to its category-based feeds--Global Dashboard does feature separate, tag-based feeds, some of which are country-specific.)
(Updated originally, on Sunday, to also note Pamoja Media's blog; updated further, also on Sunday, to note the feed for the "News" section of the CIVICUS site; updated still further, also on Sunday, to revamp the updates and to note both the "Lubanga Trial" blog and the fact that Amnesty International's "Livewire" blog and FIDH's blog feature tag-based feeds [thanks to the related "In Situ"].)
Finally, just in case, here are some advocacy/NGO-related odds 'n' ends from over the past few months...
-
The Enough Project revamped its site--which now includes a daily updated blog.
-
Physicians for Human Rights (U.S.) launched a blog of its own--which also includes a sub-blog called "Darfuri Women".
-
SSRC and the Royal African Society launched the joint blog "African Arguments".
-
The Genocide Prevention Project (essentially a spinoff from Dream for Darfur) officially launched.
-
The (similarly named but separate) Genocide Prevention Task Force released its report.
-
Human Rights Digest launched a links directory of rights groups.
Again, if you have any questions about the feeds/sites that either are currently or had been included in the various widget-based batches, please let me know. - EJM
