The feed for Uganda-CAN has been re-added to the very, very big batch of widget-based RSS feeds of news from Africa, as the site is again active; in addition, the feed for Release Eritrea has been added.

Even More Modifications to "RSS Feeds of News from Africa" and "Sudan-Related RSS Feeds"--Plus Additional Notes

South Africa-specific news feeds from the "Mail & Guardian", IOL, News24, the SABC, and iafrica have been added to the very, very big batch of widget-based RSS feeds of news from Africa--as have feeds for John Liebhardt's blog, GI-Net's "Genocide Monitor", the "Charles Taylor Trial" blog, and the Brookings Institution.  Meanwhile, the feed for Uganda-CAN has been removed, as the site appears to be dead (although this does not affect either Resolve Uganda or Invisible Children), and a separate Brookings feed has been added to the almost-as-big batch of widget-based, Sudan-related feeds.

In addition, here are some separate notes:

• Save Darfur released this week a joint statement from Sens. Clinton, McCain, and Obama concerning Darfur.
• Joey Cheek had an op-ed in this past Sunday's "Washington Post".
• David Axe is planning a reporting trip to Chad in mid-June--and is asking for financial donations to help cover the costs.
• Julie Flint wrote a recent "Comment Is Free" post that also served as the basis for her latest "Daily Star" op-ed.
• The folks behind Ushahidi have helped in the creation and launch of a similar new site concerning the recent attacks in South Africa.
• Global News Enterprises has updated its corporate site (and has launched .net and .org counterparts); the company is now officially in the process of hiring correspondents and regional editors (among other positions). - EJM

Still More Modifications to "RSS Feeds of News from Africa"--Plus an Additional Note

The feed for "Mmegi", a few additional "Jimma Times" feeds, the "Multimedia" feed for South Africa's "(Sunday) Times", the "Columnists" and "Multimedia" feeds for the "Sowetan", and the feed for Ricci Shryock's photo blog have all just been added to the very, very big batch of RSS feeds of news from Africa.  In addition, the various "Nyasa Times" feeds have been changed/corrected to reflect new URLs (although the categories themselves remain the same).

Separately, the Sudan Divestment Task Force has released a new performance analysis of the companies that it identifies as the "highest offenders" in Sudan, as compared to each firm's industry peer group; see also a related "International Herald Tribune" preview story. - EJM

Blog feeds for Richard Lough, the Africa Rice Center (WARDA), and the Johannesburg Refugee Relief Fund have just been added to the very, very big batch of widget-based RSS feeds of news from Africa. - EJM

Still More Modifications to "RSS Feeds of News from Africa" and "Sudan-Related RSS Feeds"

The very, very big batch of widget-based RSS feeds of news from Africa now includes various feeds from South Africa's "The Good News", plus additional feeds from News24 (i.e., the "Columnists", "MyNews24", and related "editor's blog" feeds), as well as feeds from "Afrika Link", Rescue Kenya, the South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR), the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF), and the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC).  Also, to be on the safe side, the various feeds for the main site of Kenya's "Nation" have been removed (hopefully, only temporarily), as the feeds overall (and, to some extent, other functions of the site itself) are currently experiencing some technical issues.  (This does not affect the feeds for the related "politics"/"Kenya Today" blog and "Business Daily Africa".)

Separately, the BBC site's "In Depth" category feed for Sudan (which has recently been updated for the first time in a while) has been added to the almost-as-big batch of widget-based, Sudan-related RSS feeds--while the various search-based feeds from MSN/Windows Live have been re-added to both batches (particularly the latter), as the searches now again support feeds. - EJM

Feeds for the Ethiopian Media Forum, "Cyber Ethiopia", Quatero, and South Africa's Bush Radio News have all been added to the very, very big batch of widget-based RSS feeds of news from Africa--as have the overall blog feed for East London, South Africa's "(Daily) Dispatch" and the "Africa"-tag-based feed for Ekklesia. - EJM

The second widget within the very, very big batch of RSS feeds of news from Africa now includes many primary or overall feeds from South African news sites (and related blog sites).  Some of the feeds (i.e., the ones from the "Mail & Guardian"/"Thought Leader", IOL, News24, the "[Sunday] Times", the SABC, and the "Citizen") are from sites that are still included (with separate, category- or tag-/keyword-based feeds) in the first widget, while others (i.e., the ones from the Pietermaritzburg "Witness", the "Sowetan", and the Port Elizabeth "Herald") are from sites that had not been included previously and a few (i.e., the ones from Polity, iafrica, and Politicsweb) are feeds that were previously included in the first widget.

Separately, feeds from The Gambia's "Observer", the UK's "Telegraph", David Axe's new "From the Frontline" blog, Cédric Kalonji's blog, Pauline Bax's blog, Neil McCartney's blog, South Africa's "Legalbrief", and South Africa's Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) have also been added to that batch.
