Those of us who know this group know its long-time and deep dedication to action. For those who can get to this conference, it promises to be quite important. Thanks!
Dear Friends,
My name is Adam Globus-Hoenich, and I am the Web & Technology Manager at the American Anti-Slavery Group, a Boston-based human rights organization working to abolish modern-day slavery around the world. We have been working to stop the Sudan genocide for a very long time Sudan-related activism is one of our flagship activities) and run the website http://SudanActivism.com, which houses activism resources for people and students interested in speaking out against the genocide.
I'd like to let you know about an upcoming conference we are organizing for Sunday, October 2nd, at Columbia University: a "Sudan Mobilization Conference".
We are inviting students, citizens, and Sudanese leaders from all over the U.S. to come to this conference.
The focus will be placed on up-to-date discussion of the events in Sudan, and workshops will be held to provide instruction on various activism strategies (including setting up divestment campaigns, organizing rallies, engaging the Sudanese-American community in activism, and shaping the discussion in the larger American activist community).
I'm hoping you'll check out the page we have set up for this event at http://www.SudanActivism.com/columbia and hopefully mention it on Passion of the Present, as a way of getting the word out to your readers and increasing attendance at the conference. After all, the more people who are aware of and active against this genocide, the sooner it'll stop.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Cheers,
Adam Globus-Hoenich
American Anti-Slavery Group
