I am trying to get back into blogging Darfur after a few months of reading others. Why do I want to do this? I'm not sure, it just feels right. I may even do some podcasts, perhaps some interviews. I'd like to get back into the dialogue with bloggers like Ingrid and, the two guys who do the weekly essay, and other bloggers. I believe that bloggers hold the key to going forward.
Ingrd in particular seems to have continued to build an interesting community of creative folks, and a story that is fascinating and inspiring to follow. Inspiration, it seems to me, is in short supply.
Jim Wallis says that elections don't matter, spiritual movements do. Spiritual movements are the dog, elected officials are the tail.
We failed to stop this genocide, and If we want to stop any future genocides, we need a spiritual movement that leads to different elected leaders and different, reformed developed-world governments. This is a long--probably 50 year--campaign. I would expect that it will take about ten years before we are able to see that we can stop or at least favorably change the course of genocides as they happen. That said,it is well worth doing.
